lSchools Open: Feburary 13, 2013
Whitman-Hanson Regional School DistrictPost Blizzard- Re OpeningAll Whitman-Hanson Schools will be open tomorrow on a normal schedule, for tomorrow February 13, 2013. Due to remaining high snow banks on some roads, and concerns on traffic flow we have made many adjustments for tomorrow. Please read this information very closely, this is also posted to our website at www.whrsd.org/transportation. We also ask you to inform other parents of this message. As snow removal on sidewalks is not expected to be completed, the District has added Snow Bus Routes for Whitman Student Walkers to the High School, Whitman Middle, Conley and Duval Elementary routes are posted online at www.whrsd.org/transportation. All Whitman-Hanson busses will make efforts to pickup any students who may be walking. Where safe, parents are asked to walk students to existing bus stops, however, students on main streets are asked to wait as close to their driveways as possible. We have worked closely with local DPW and Highway departments to push back snow at Defined district bus stops. We anticipate many parents may opt to drive students to school. Parents are informed we anticipate there to be delays at some buildings tomorrow as road conditions still remain tight. For the High School:Student walkers may ride any bus. Busses will pass along walking routes.Parents are asked to drop-off students at the lower front parking lot. Upper lot traffic will be for students and busses. For the Hanson Middle and Whitman Middle SchoolThere are no parent changes. Students are asked to use the bus stop or any close bus stop.Students on main roads may wait in front of their house but must be out and along the busroute prior to the bus passing. For the Conley Elementary SchoolOur team is concerned with traffic and access to Forest Street. All parents who choose to drop students off for regular day classes must use an offsite shuttle location and wait by Rockland Trust Company on the Johnnie's Foodmaster Parking Lot at the intersection of Rte 18 and Rte 27. A shuttle bus will provided to bring students to the Conley School. This bus will leave Johnnie's Lot at 8:30am.At the end of the day, we will use the Rear of the Whitman Middle School (100 Corthell Ave) for the drop off point. Parents who wish to pickup students should send a note indicating you will be picking up your student, and parents should wait behind the Whitman Middle School, near the fields, where we will shuttle these students prior to regular bus dismissal. Bus shuttles are District staff will be available to assist. The shuttle bus will arrive at Whitman Middle at 2:45pm Vehicle traffic on Forest St will be limited and parents should NOT wait by the Conley School. For the Duval Elementary School:Our team is concerned with traffic and access to Regal Street. All parents who choose to drop students off for the regular day classes are requested to use an offsite shuttle location at the Whitman VFW at 95 Essex St. A shuttle bus will leave the VFW lot for Duval at 9:15am.For parent pickup in the afternoon parents should send a note indicating you will be picking up your child. All Pickup students will be shuttled to the Whitman VFW Parking lot. Parent vehicle traffic on Regal Street will be limited.
