Subject: Public Notices EEE Spraying Postponed until Thursday Aug. 5th
Due to the poor weather conditions the aerial spraying for EEE scheduled for Wednesday, August 4th has been postponed until Thursday, August 5th.
Michael Coughlin, Local Public Health Manager, Bureau of Emergency Preparedness, MDPH, provided the following:
Due to anticipated poor weather conditions Aerial Spraying is CANCELLED for Tonight. . We will keep you informed on a constant basis. Weather forecasts for tomorrow look more promising but remain tentative.
The Department of Agriculture (DAR) is in charge of the arrangements for aerial spraying. They will continue to monitor weather conditions through the day tomorrow. At 3:00 PM tomorrow DPH and DAR will consult once again regarding the prospects for going forward with spraying on Thursday evening. We hope to have a good sense of what to expect at that time.
During this morning's conference call with local health officials, one caller registered a concern about the quality of information provided by the 2-1-1 information line. We have been in touch with the 211 program and have corrected that problem.
Thank you for your cooperative efforts in response to this public health threat. We will continue to provide you with the latest information available throughout the day today and tomorrow.
We urge residents to continue to take the proper precautions and avoid outdoor activities between dusk and dawn.
