Hanson Kiwanis Charity Shoe Drive
Individuals, groups, companies, clubs, and any organizations are invited to participate by collecting gently worn, used, or even new shoes and boots which will end up in impoverished countries to help people start micro-businesses to create sustainable incomes.~ People learn to clean, repair, and sell the shoes, allowing them to feed, clothe, and house their families.~
In the US alone, approximately 630 million pairs of shoes are thrown away per year and the chemical compounds in the materials create health hazards if left to disintegrate openly or in landfills.~ By donating them to this charity drive, your shoes are given a second chance to make a difference.

Look for information from W-H schools, Express announcements, social media, church bulletins, and conversations with friends. If you have suggestions on ways to increase participation, can provide a drop off location or temporary storage facility, want to volunteer, or plan on having your own mini shoe drive at home or work and have questions or need assistance along the way, contact Kiwanis President Gerry Lozeau - c: 508-454-6665, gerryhb@aol.com.
Thank you in advance to every person who in some way supports this effort.
