Hanson Library Author Talk

Hanson Library Author Talk

Barbara Shapiro.

Author of The Art Forger

to Visit Hanson Public Library

You are cordially invited to an author talk featuring Barbara Shapiro onSunday, October 19th at 3:00 p.m. Barbara Shapiro will discuss her highly acclaimed and award-winning novel, The Art Forger. This novel weaves a captivating story around a Degas painting stolen during the 1990  art heist at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Clare Roth, a struggling Boston artist, agreed to forge one of the stolen Degas paintings in exchange for a one-woman gallery art show. Clare quickly began to suspect the painting delivered to her was itself a forgery rather than the stolen Degas masterpiece. An intriguing plot with richly developed relationships unfolds.

According to Booklist Review, "The Art Forger is an entrancingly visual, historically rich, deliciously witty, sensuous, and smart tale of authenticity versus fakery in which Shapiro artfully turns a clever caper into a provocative meditation on what we value most."

After her book talk, Ms. Shapiro will answer questions and sign copies of her books, which are available for purchase at the Hanson Public Library. Light refreshments will be served.

This event, sponsored by the Hanson Public Library Foundation, is free and open to the public, requires preregistration.  Due to the size of the room, registration is limited to 75 participants. Please call 781-293-2151 or emailinfo@hansonlibrary.org to register.
