Dear Whitman-Hanson Parents/Guardians:
During the week of January 13, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will be sending a team of six independent educators to our district to review the progress we are making in improving student achievement. Their goal is to identify district and school practices that contribute to increasing student performance, as well as to point out areas where we can improve those practices.
As a part of their effort, the review team members would like to speak to a group of parents from all of the schools within the district, particularly parents who are members of school councils. They will be meeting on January 14 at the Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, 600 Franklin Street, Whitman, in Conference Room 205 B at 3:00 PM. You are cordially invited to attend if your schedule permits. Team members will be asking you questions about how you help your child's school to improve and how you see the help that the school district provides as well. Talking with the team is optional, but we hope you see it is an opportunity for you to share what you know as a parent/guardian of a child in our school system.
The Whitman-Hanson Regional School District welcomes the review as a way of helping us to assess our practices and to benefit from whatever recommendations the review team members may make to help us continue to get better at educating your children.
Please contact Ellen Stockdale, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, at 781-618-7467 or by email at Ellen.Stockdale@whrsd.org to let us know if you plan to attend. Thank you for your continued support and your involvement in your child's education.
Sincerely,
Ruth C. Gilbert-Whitner, Ed.D.
